Yukon Youth Take Centre Stage

If there’s one message that Canada’s three northern territories have made loud and clear during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, it’s that youth figure prominently in their future. Youth emcees have introduced premiers, youth athletes have demonstrated their prowess, and youth performers have showcased their talent.

Canada’s Northern House a 2010 Media Darling

Canada’s Northern House ranks among the best of pavilions at Vancouver 2010 for its high quality exhibits, performances and artist demonstrations. Public response to the House has been phenomenal, and media interest has been constant. So far over 100,000 visitors have walked through our doors—more than the entire population of all three territories combined!

A Monday of Olympic Proportions

Monday is a jam-packed day of activities, performances – as well as gold and diamonds – at Canada’s Northern House. NWT diamond polisher Jen Pilon will be doing a demonstration this morning. Yukon jeweller and goldsmith Cheryl Rivest is coming to Canada’s Northern House this afternoon to share stories and images from Yukon’s gold mining past and talk about present-day gold mining. Come and learn how to pan for Yukon gold!

Stunning Northern Doll Show in Richmond

Until February 28 the Gateway Theatre in Richmond houses a northern gem awaiting discovery. Sewing Our Traditions is an extraordinary collection of handmade dolls crafted by Inuit and First Nations artisans from Northern Canada assembled for an exhibit during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
