A towering aluminum sculpture of an inuksuk installed near Speed Skating Canada House in Richmond has become much more than a beacon of friendship during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

Tomorrow a Yukon band with an unforgettable name takes centre stage in Robson Square. From 2:30 to 3pm Sasquatch Prom Date will rock out on Stage One bringing their old-time rockabilly jive to Vancouver.

Yukon Youth Take Centre Stage

If there’s one message that Canada’s three northern territories have made loud and clear during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, it’s that youth figure prominently in their future. Youth emcees have introduced premiers, youth athletes have demonstrated their prowess, and youth performers have showcased their talent.

Canada's North Kicking it Up in the Richmond O-Zone

Tonight, the Richmond O-Zone is the place to be for a northern cultural extravaganza featuring performers, visual artists and athletes from across the Canada’s North. Starting at 3:30 on the Main Stage, top performing artists from Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut put on a pan-northern showcase that presents traditional and contemporary art forms from all three territories.

Hamming it up for the Green Screen

Visitors to Canada’s Northern House have been impressed by the quality of exhibits and range of activities. One of the most popular is the ‘Green Screen’ at the back of the House. Visitors stand in front of a blank screen and a short video is shot showing them doing all kinds of fun things on the northern landscape. After their shoot, the video is emailed to them.
